Rhythm The Cycle of Life
Motion is the significance of life, the source of Kinetic Energy and the law of motion is known as tala or rhythm.
Rhythm is actually life disguised in motion and in every guise it seems to attract the attention of man; be it a child who is pleased with the moving of a rattle and is soothed by the swing of its cradle, or a grown up person whose every game, play, poetry, dance, music and enjoyment has rhythm disguised in it in some way or the other. This can also be called Chhanda. tempo, meter etc.
Man’s quest and thirst for art and culture has been going on till today ever since the civilization began. The primitive man did not feel the need for cultural equipment as today because he was busy in fulfilling his physical needs. Even then in times of happiness, he too would have felt the need for music. In the same way to vent through literature and art and other media.
The equality of intervals of time gradually came into being leading to the rise of talas. Therefore the significance of rhythm has led to the rise of several percussion instruments.
